Cycling With Virtual Summit
In a bike industry that has become increasingly more elite – and caters to a certain body type, the Cycling With Virtual Summit featured riders from all walks of life who have used the bicycle as a vehicle for freedom, storytelling, coping, and connection. Through conversations that were both inspirational and practical, the summit celebrated the bicycle’s many powers while emphasizing its accessibility to all.
The Cycling With Virtual Summit is a culmination of the connections, inspiration, and trail family I’ve gathered from 15,000 miles of bike travel.
Inspired by cycling’s impact on my own grief and type one diabetes, I organized the first of two Cycling With Virtual Summits during the COVID-19 pandemic, with support from Erik Douds. The event featured 13 guests, including cyclists like Leo Rodgers, who lost his leg in a motorcycle accident and tells the story of how his bicycle has become a kind of prosthesis.
When given the option of a paid or free ticket, 33% of 2020 participants and 55% of 2025 participants chose to pay, indicating the audience’s increased value in this event.
The summit was financially sponsored by Ortlieb, Bedrock Sandals, Rad Power Bikes, Sawyer Products, PEARL iZUMi, Aspire Eyewear, and Revo Sunglasses.
